Are pocket sprung mattress any good?

pocket sprung mattress are quality, your going to get individual surfaces for the sleepers. There also supportive and supply the sleeper with a quality surface when they move during sleep. With a normal spring system the springs are connected, with a pocket spring system this isn't the case. A pocket spring mattress is also going to help relieve pressure points on the body this is great as this is where most sleepers have issues especially on the back and shoulders.    

Would this pocket spring mattress work on a single bed frame for a child?

You could add this single mattress to a children's single bed frame there wouldn't be any problems with this scenario. You would want the base to be solid slatted or just a solid base as this will help the pocket springs do there job.
